Worship leading is not a position 

It is not a title 

It is not a badge that should be boasted in 

But rather- a position of the heart 

One that truly leads others into Presence is humble in spirit 

Confident in identity 

And obsessed with His gaze 

They do not demand acknowledgement 

Nor beg for the stamp of approval

The emotions of those waiting to be entertained is not their guide

Worship leaders are the ones who live without reservation 

Undignified and full of childlike passion 

Moved in a moment by the impulses of the Spirit 

They are the ones who crave the fullness of His nature 

They are those that long to see heaven invade earth


It is the one most hungry that leads the way – even if it is the one without a microphone in hand
